NCES Report: Two Key Changes

• Doubling of the number of degree and certificates programs that are now offered.

• Growth in institutions offering distance education courses was from about 33 % to 44%,

• Growth primarily in offered distance education courses, rather than complete programs.

• Percentage of institutions using “asynchronous Internet-based technologies” almost tripled from 22% to 60% of institutions
